Patient-Specific Compounding

Bare Compounding Pharmacy operates as a patient-specific compounding pharmacy, meaning:

  • Each compounded medication is prepared only after receipt of a valid prescription for an identified patient.
  • Formulations are tailored to meet the specific medical needs of that individual patient.

Federal law under Section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act permits licensed pharmacists to compound medications for individual patients pursuant to a valid prescription.

California regulations also require that compounded medications generally not be prepared prior to receipt of a patient-specific prescription, except in limited circumstances based on historical prescribing patterns.
